Stephanie danced for 14 years and has been teaching for 11 years. She was a competitive gymnast for 6 years as well. Stephanie’s dance and gymnastics training began in Plano, TX where she competed with Plano Aerobats and took ballet and jazz classes to supplement her gym training at Gotta Dance. She also took classes at the world famous gym WOGA for 2 years. She was not interested in dance at the time but her parents recognized the benefit it would provide for her gymnastics career. In 2004, her family moved to Winder, Georgia where she had the opportunity to train and compete under 1988 Olympian Hope Spivey at Spivey’s Gymnastics. She continued her ballet, pointe and jazz classes at the Lawrenceville School of Ballet. Her family once again moved in 2006 to Bartlesville, OK. It was here Stephanie competed her last three years of gymnastics at Conoco-Phillips Gymnastics, winning numerous state and regional awards.
After spending the summer of 2009 at OU’s SummerWind Youth Ballet Camp, Stephanie decided to end her gymnastics career and pursue ballet more seriously. She spent her junior and senior year of high school taking ballet, pointe, jazz and modern classes at the Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance Education. In January 2011, Stephanie was accepted into the University of Oklahoma’s School of Dance. During her time at OU, she had the pleasure of performing in various repertoire as well as The Nutcracker and Cinderella with the Oklahoma Festival Ballet under Director Mary Margaret Holt.
